Structural waterproofing for a lake-side theatre
Concrete + wood sandwich panels
The lake-side stage consists of a substructure made of reinforced concrete, which is used as a seating area during performances. When raised, the steel frame construction is used by bathers as a “sunbed” – and to protect audiences from rain. A concrete basin at the rear that can be filled with water acts as a counterweight for the “roof structure”. Two hydraulic cylinders (directly in front of the fixed bearings) help to raise the structure and fix it in position. When lowered, the steel frame supports rest between the rows of the stands.
