Hagebutten parking deck
Großmann & Stühmeier, Bad Oeynhausen
ca. 750 m²
Asphalt, concrete, metal, plastics
The two-storey car park, consisting of an exposed deck and an underground level, was designed as an in-situ concrete construction in the 60s. The top deck had bituminous waterproofing and asphalt driving lanes. The visible damage on the exposed deck included cracks as well as areas where the surfacing had become detached and was breaking up. As a consequence the underground level showed signs of extensive leaks. Refurbishment began with removing the loose and weathered sections of the existing waterproofing system above the joints and at the edges. The old asphalt surface was retained and shot-blasted in a criss-cross pattern before it was coated with a primer. The liquid resin was first applied to all interfaces, such as joints, upstands and floor drains. Subsequently the entire area was securely waterproofed with PMMA resins. The end product is a seamless and joint-bridging waterproofing system as well as surfacing for the driving lanes that has been tried and tested over many years and is easy to maintain.
